Refugee Week 2019

We are excited to officially launch our events for Refugee Week 2019.  Refugee Week runs from 17th-23rd June and the theme for 2019 is “You, Me and Those Who Came Before”.  Refugee Week is a UK-wide festival of arts, cultural and educational events celebrating the contribution of refugees and promoting understanding as to why people seek sanctuary.

Sarah Swirled Belly Dance

On Thursday 20th June we are holding a Ladies Celebration of Dance at Sahara in Preston.  We have a variety of dance including belly dancing by Sarah Swirled Belly Dance and Brazilian capoeira.

This is a ladies only event.  For more information and ticket details please click HERE!

The People’s Production Lab are supporting us on Saturday 22nd June with two events.  The Makers’ Market will be open from 12-4pm, giving sanctuary seekers a chance to display and demonstrate their creativity and sell their wares.   There will also be an opportunity to meet some representatives of Preston City of Sanctuary.

From 6pm we are presenting an Evening of Entertainment.  Refugees and asylum seekers contribute a great wealth of culture to both our city and country.  We welcome members of the local community to join those from around the globe in a celebration of the arts.  Tickets are £5 for adults and £3 for children.  More information and the link to buy adult tickets are HERE!

We are still able to accommodate anyone who would like to take part in these three events so please email [email protected] if you are a dance teacher (female only please), if you have crafts you would like to sell or if you would like to perform.

Our partners UCLan and The Larder also have a number of events supporting Refugee Week.  The full schedule of events is HERE!
