We recognize that sanctuary seekers in the UK often face a hostile environment, both from government and from sections of the community who are fearful and sceptical about immigration.
We believe that sanctuary seekers have powerful reasons for leaving their home countries such as war and political or religious persecution, that they enrich our society with their cultures, skills and desire to work hard. We want them to be welcomed, integrated into our community and to enjoy the human rights that are recognized internationally, and which are traditionally a source of pride for the UK.
We encourage our members to be involved democratically in campaigning and advocacy on behalf of sanctuary seekers by contacting MPs and other politicians and decision makers.
