Some photos from Saturday at the Community Festival which was hosted at UCLan and organised by the Refugee Integration Team at Lancashire County Council. We all had a fantastic time at this rich, cultural event where there was so much on offer enabling us to network with a range  of other groups and meet lots of new people, some of whom have indicated their interest in getting further involved in our activities. So many new experiences and opportunities were on offer. They were enjoyed by those in attendance representing so many different backgrounds and cultures
A special thanks to Matin and Selenga for sharing their experiences and insights after the film screening- your contribution was both moving and inspiring. Thanks to Lonce and Terri who put on an energising dance performance that had everyone tapping their toes. Also thanks to Suely and Kiko for staffing our stall and answering so many questions about PCOS
The day was a fantastic opportunity to catch up with old friends and colleagues , and make new friends and connections. Our thanks to the Lancashire Refugee Integration Team for making it happen.

Monday 16th June
Today a group of us visited Let’s Grow Preston which really helped us to appreciate the real meaning of Community as a Superpower. We all
learnt  such a lot and enjoyed the enthusiasm of everyone involved with Let’s Grow Preston. A number of people were so inspired that they are considering becoming volunteers with them or enrolling on some of the free gardening courses that they run. We came away committed to gardening much more sustainably and converts to the “no dig” method of growing plants and vegetables. We learnt about the other gardening projects in Preston, some right on people’s door steps. It was an opportunity to try new fruits and vegetables and learnt the names for them in various different languages. We all came away with a plant to take home and an enthusiasm to make it grow and enjoy the fruits of our labour.  The walled garden offers everyone in the community (gardeners or not) a safe place where people can do everything from learning a new skill to simply enjoying the peace and tranquility that the garden offers. All for free with a warm welcome.
Thank you Annie and the team at Let’s Grow Preston for such an inspiring and informative visit to your wonderful walled garden. Thanks also to Liz from Talk English for assisting with the organisation of the visit and to Emma for her help, but above all thanks to everyone who attended for making it so memorable.
