We were delighted to see Holy Family Catholic Primary School in Ingol awarded their School of Sanctuary status this month.
The school have worked hard and were presented with their award in a ceremony at County Hall along with schools from Lancaster and Earby. The students themselves spoke very eloquently about the work they have done, the inspiration behind it and what it means to them to become a School of Sanctuary.
Holy Family follow in the footsteps of our first School of Sanctuary, English Martyrs Catholic Primary School. Schools of Sanctuary have to demonstrate three things to attain the award:
- Learn about what it means to be seeking sanctuary.
- Take positive action to embed concepts of welcome, safety and inclusion within your school and the wider community.
- Share your vision and achievements – be proud!
The Schools of Sanctuary project in Lancashire is being run by Lancashire County Council’s
Ethnic Minority/Gypsy, Roma Traveller Achievement Service. If you are part of school as a headteacher, teacher or parent and would like your school to be involved in the Sanctuary awards please contact [email protected]
